What this Google Business Profile audit actually checks

Most free "GBP checkers" score your profile on whether the fields are filled in. That tells you nothing about whether you show up. This tool measures the thing that matters: your position in Google's local results at real coordinates around your business, then explains the gap between you and the businesses that outrank you.

Geo grid map rank

Local rankings are not one number. A dentist can sit at position one outside their own front door and vanish two miles away. We run the same search from a grid of points spread around your address and record where you land at each one. The green, amber and grey pins show that at a glance, and share of local voice tells you what percentage of your area you actually own.

The grid sizes itself

A dentist in a dense city centre and a plumber covering three rural counties compete over completely different areas, so a fixed grid is wrong for one of them. Before measuring, this tool looks at where your actual competitors sit and spaces the test points to match: tight where the market is packed, wide where it is spread out. You do not have to guess, and the report tells you the spacing it chose and why.

Competitor gap analysis

We pull the businesses Google returns for your category in your area, with their star rating, review count and how much of your grid they cover. Review volume against the local median is usually the single clearest explanation for why one profile outranks another in the same category on the same street.

Profile health

Categories, hours, phone, website, photos, description and business status are read live from your profile. Where Google does not expose something through its API, such as Google Posts or Q and A, we say so and put it on a manual checklist rather than inventing a score for it.

What it will not do

It will not claim to know things it cannot measure. Local ranking data reflects Google's own place data and is the same source the paid grid tools use, but it is a close model of the map pack rather than a screenshot of it. Treat the trend and the gaps as the signal.

Common questions

Where do I find my Google Business Profile link?

Search your business name in Google Maps, open the listing, press Share, then Copy link. Paste that here. The full google.com/maps/place link from your browser address bar works too, and if you do not have either, just type your business name and fill in the city.

Is this really free?

Yes. 2 audits per day per visitor, no signup, no card. The limit exists because every audit costs us real API calls.

How often should I re-run it?

Monthly is right for most businesses. Local rankings move slowly, and running it weekly mostly shows you noise.
